THE 'BOSTON NEW WORKS PROJECT IN A NUTSHELL:
· Moonbox is receiving project proposals for New Works between now and August 31, 2020.
· Those proposals selected from this first round of submissions will be given approximately 2 months to complete a First Draft treatment.
· First Drafts (“Round 2”) will be reviewed by our panel, and a subset of these will be selected to produce a second draft.
· Second Drafts (“Round 3”) will be reviewed by our panel, and a subset of these will be selected to produce a third draft.
· Third Drafts (“Round 4”) will be reviewed by our panel, and a subset of these will be selected as our Finalists, and will then enter the workshopping process.
· A panel of reviewers from the Boston Theater Community will be reading submissions and selecting the projects that will proceed to each round.
· The first two rounds will be reviewed anonymously (panelists will not see the author’s name).
· Stipends will be paid to each participant selected for rounds 2, 3 and 4 on the following schedule:
Round 2 (First Draft): $250 stipend
Round 3 (Second Draft); $500 stipend
Round 4 (Third/Final Draft): $750 stipend
- Only those invited to participate in each round, and who complete their submissions and have submitted appropriate tax paperwork (see below) will receive a stipend
- There is no stipend provided for Round 1 submissions
- Only one stipend per project, per round
- Participants must submit I9 paperwork in order to receive their stipend (I9 paperwork will be provided by Moonbox to all participants selected for Round 2)
- Participants must include with each submission (including round 1) a statement verifying that the work being submitted is their original and of their own creation.
- Stipends will be sent out once the project draft for each round has been received (and if the participant’s I9 paperwork has been received).
· Those individuals whose works are ultimately selected to be workshopped and produced at the Boston New Works Festival will be required to sign a contract provided by Moonbox which will attest that Finalists shall:
Commit to completing their workshop process
Meet regularly (on a schedule to be arranged by mutual agreement) with a Moonbox partner for project check-ins
Work collaboratively with Moonbox to ensure that their project meets any requirements for production
Commit to having their work debut at Moonbox’s Boston New Works Festival – ie, that the work will not be shown to the public in any venue or on any platform prior to the Festival (this does not include previous workshopping)
These requirements may be adjusted by Moonbox on a case-by-case basis.
· Moonbox is NOT asking for nor requiring any ownership of New Works submitted for consideration for the Boston New Works Festival beyond the agreement that Finalist works debut at the Festival. All rights to the submitted materials will remain with the creator of the project.
